Material Handler / 3rd shift (14.50-19.16/hr)

A Material Handler is responsible to deliver the completed parts and material to designated staging locations or customer Kanban container locations.  This role also ensures that inventory transactions are completed in the GSM ERP system in a “real time” fashion.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Material Handler is to ensure material handling functions that support production operations are carried out in a productive (Safe, Accurate, Efficient) manner.  Other responsibilities may include:

  • Follows dispatch report according to due date, then component part availability
  • Counts parts
  • Pulls inventory using the lowest on hand quantity first
  • Physically merges, loads, moves WIP, purchased parts, and subcontracted parts to work centers
  • Accurately enters transactions into the ERP system
  • Properly labels all product as it moves throughout the production floor
  • Moves maintenance, tooling and repair items to the work centers
  • Picks, packs and kits products after production when necessary
  • Organizes and maintains clean and properly labeled indoor departmental storage areas
  • Inspects daily material moving equipment
  • Counts inventory locations to verify accuracy
  • Adjusts inventory as trained
  • Consolidates containers to reduce inventory space requirements
  • Removes empty containers to reduce inventory space requirements
  • Moves parts from receiving, quality and transfer trailers into inventory locations as needed

Job Demands and Expectations

All GSM personnel are expected to work overtime on occasion, including weekends as needed. The work environment is fast-paced, dynamic and team-oriented.  Each employee contributes to the overall success of the organization and is expected to grow with the company.

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to drive a forklift and produce inventory transactions that are free of mathematical errors, maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude.

The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

  • Forklift license
  • Turret Truck
  • Picker
  • Laptop or desktop computer
  • Office telephone system
  • Walkie-talkie
  • Corporate ERP system


High school diploma or GED (preferred) or required experience


Minimum of 1 years of shipping and warehouse or materials handling experience desired.
