Logistics Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Logistics Supervisor

The Logistics Supervisor is charged with the responsibility for attentively supervising Logistics Team members to ensure the safe, accurate and efficient flow of products from receiving through the delivery process so that customers, Machine Operators, Maintenance Technicians, Logistic Loaders and are never waiting for the arrival or removal of on-hand needed items.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Logistics Supervisor is to actively supervise Logistics Team Members who receive and distribute purchased materials, move work-in-process and purchased parts within departments, move finished goods to warehouse locations and perform shipping and delivery processes for customers and outsource partners.

To achieve success in this role, the supervisor must:

  • Ensuring the perpetual system reflects real-time physical transactions of receipts, moves and shipments of inventory and supplies at all times
  • Completes GSM Supervisor Standard Work as assigned (procedure categories may include:  attendance, department hygiene, meeting, labor scheduling, shift transition)
  • Ensures MH equipment is properly used
  • Ensures inspections of material handling equipment are properly performed according to established schedules
  • Schedules training resources to ensure employees are able to execute material movement transactions and updates skills and wages accordingly
  • Performs employee performance development reviews on time to develop employee skills and improve department efficiency
  • Schedules outbound load for customers and outside processes with dispatch resources
  • Coordinates the shipment and delivery of all purchased manufacturing processes, including paint, plating, galvanizing, machining, and others as required
  • Plans daily shipments by creating picklists and distributing to Loading Team
  • Supervises off-site warehouses logistic processes
  • Conducts audits of employees work to ensure accurate inventory transactions are occurring
  • Communicates packaging and shipping material needs to Materials Buyer
  • Arranges distribution of all MRO inbound goods and products to appropriate areas and departments
  • Monitors late operation, critical jobs and late shipping requirements reports to identify parts that are not arriving or moving through processes as planned and remove the roadblocks to enable GSM to meet delivery agreements as committed
  • Expediting subcontracted purchases to ensure on-time delivery
  • Proactively communicating with Business Development Manager & Scheduler when a problem meeting a due date is anticipated or encountered to obtain priority
  • Reporting of key metrics related to shipping, receiving and warehouse management on a timely basis

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent interpersonal and computer skills, be able to produce coherent written documents, maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude, and maintain the strictest confidence regarding all issues and information regarding the company’s operations, its employee, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work. The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Forklift License
  • On-line Dispatch systems
  • On-line shipping systems

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, logistics or supply chain management preferred,  5 years relevant experience may be acceptable with High School Diploma 

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience with shipping & receiving, materials handling and/or warehouse and supervision or management
