Tooling Coordinator/Bending/3rd shift

Tooling Coordinator/Press Brake

The Press Brake Tooling Coordinator is responsible for the organization, cleanliness, condition, and distribution of tooling and fixtures throughout the Press Brake Department.  The Coordinator will stage tooling for all Press Brake Operators, report any discrepancies with the tooling condition to the Press Brake Supervisor, and build and manage a detailed, well-organized tooling inventory.  Any conditions that affect these responsibilities must be communicated to the Press Brake Supervisor.  This position plays a key role in department productivity and also includes various additional roles as stated below.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Press Brake Tooling Coordinator is to ensure press brake tooling is properly maintained, inventoried, and delivered to production teams on time and in excellent condition.

Tasks specific to this position include:

  • Supporting the achievement of company standards in safety, productivity, and on-time production
  • Reporting all property or tooling damage immediately to the shift supervisor
  • Facilitating the creation of a well-documented process for tooling inventory and storage
  • Communicating immediately any potential problems with the tooling including but not limited to: condition, organization, cleanliness, or availability
  • Gathering required documents (process photos, process inspection plans, job traveler, print, and work in process parts) to successfully stage tooling for jobs
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects, both independently and as a team member, when requested or as the opportunity presents itself
  • Using material data sheets (MSDS) effectively
  • Offering process improvement ideas
  • Entering job information, quantities, and inspection results accurately into the ERP systems and reporting on the state of the tooling staging process
  • Maintaining a satisfactory attendance record, as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Reading job traveler for special instructions
  • Understanding safety requirements in work areas, and complying with requirements

Secondary Responsibilities and Purpose

  • Using inspection devices (calipers, pin gauges, check fixtures) to inspect parts, according to print and product inspection plan (PIP)
  • Selecting and using inspection fixtures, as identified in the CNC program, IQS or job traveler
  • Understanding and correctly evaluating inspection patterns and maintaining their organization
  • Reading the print fully in order to understand tolerances, geometry, and special instructions
  • Labeling work in process parts and finished parts according to ISO policy
  • Separating and labeling non-conforming parts according to ISO policy
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual department maintenance as assigned
  • Obtaining forklift operation certification


High school diploma or equivalent, preferred


Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in press brakes, preferred
