Curriculum Development Specialist

The Curriculum Development Specialist is tasked with developing a structured training and development program that defines the path to achieve comprehensive training and educational objectives of our organization. This role delineates learning experience types and resources for each role and provides relevant procedures and instructional training materials needed to support the successful education, certification, and development of the entire GSM team.

Experience

Minimum of 1 years’ experience in curriculum development or specific training activities preferably in a manufacturing environment.

The primary responsibility of the Curriculum Development Specialist is to ensure Production has a skilled workforce that can successfully meet our customers’ demands for quality, value and on-time delivery through, developing, arranging or delivering training presentations that will ensure the readiness of employees to meet operational requirements.

Other responsibilities that are specific to this position include:

  •  Developing clear, concise and comprehensive training documents and presentations that support role certification for each of the various machine operators for the processes they perform, with relevant photos and/or videos, according to GSM’s standard operating procedures
  •  Developing knowledge and skill assessments that include objective criteria for evaluating an individual’s ability to successfully and consistently perform the range of tasks required to attain the target level designation.
  •  Assisting with preparation of a training schedule that allows relevant knowledge and skill practice to flow logically and sequentially presented such that trainees build on prior knowledge to develop a firm foundation from which to further build their competence.
  •  Coordinating the training schedule to ensure an effective, consistent training experience complete with the relevant training documents and assessments ready as committed for every session.
  •  Supporting the Production Process Manager to improve standard operating procedures (SOP’s) throughout the company.
  •  Working with functional area managers to develop, assess and select outside training resources and materials when needed.
  •  Coordinating presenter schedules and training activities.
  •  Maintaining the system for indexing and maintaining all instructional information
  •  Maintaining the system for accurately recording and reporting educational achievements
  •  Assesses existing training and development documents to determine how well they achieve desired outcomes, including reviewing audit data to determine gaps in instruction or process documents

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to produce coherent written documents that are free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors, maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude, and maintain the strictest confidence regarding all issues and information regarding the company’s operations, its employee, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work. The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

  •  Microsoft Office
  •  Laptop or desktop computer
  •  Office telephone system
  •  ERP software
  •  Training websites
  •  Comfort with presentation using audio/visual systems
  •  Relevant knowledge of fabrication
  •  Excellent writing and organizing skills relevant to a manufacturing environment

Education

 4 Year Degree preferred or minimum of 5 years in curriculum development activities

Experience

Minimum of 1 years’ experience in curriculum development or specific training activities preferably in a manufacturing environment.
