General Description

The Loader is charged with the responsibility for accurately and efficiently picking, loading, unloading and preparing shipping documents for enclosed trailers, flatbed trucks and specialty carriers that contain finished goods, work in process or maintenance repair and operational supplies in a manner which will delight our customers, internal departments, suppliers and outsource partners.


This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary.   Special projects and activities may also be created where employees’ talents can best be utilized.  In addition, General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to an ever-changing market.  It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.

Organizational Relationships and Authority

The Loader reports directly to the Logistics Supervisor. There are no direct reports to this position.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Loader is to accurately load trailers and prepare shipping documents for outbound delivery.


Other responsibilities specific to this position include:


  • Moving yard trailers with a yard truck
  • Clearing dock of finished goods and accurately delivering to inventory locations in the warehouse.
  • Receiving outside process items, MRO, miscellaneous goods and products
  • Delivering MRO (maintenance, repair and operations), packaging and supplies to designated areas and/or departments
  • Specialty packaging of products after production when necessary
  • Housekeeping and organizing of indoor and outdoor dock areas, shipping yard and storage areas

Job Demands and Expectations

All GSM personnel are expected to work overtime on occasion, including weekends as needed. The work environment is fast-paced, dynamic and team-oriented. Each employee contributes to the overall success of the organization and is expected to grow with the company.

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to drive a forklift and other company vehicles, including local, non-CDL delivery trucks and yard-tractors, produce coherent written documents that are free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors, maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude.


A valid driver’s license, preferably chauffer’s license or a Class A or B CDL is required.  A forklift license is also needed for this position.


The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

  • Laptop or desktop computer
  • Forklift license
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Office telephone system
  • Corporate ERP system

High school diploma or GED (Preferred) or required experience.
